The courses offered by the IATTM have been developed in response to the growing interest in Traditional Tibetan Medicine. A variety of courses are offered, to cater for different levels of interest. Courses range from 2-hour presentations through to weekend workshops, five- or seven-day seminars, through to long-term practitioner training courses of four years’ duration, such as in Ku Nye or TTM.

Public Talks (2 hours duration)

All public talks are accompanied by a PowerPoint presentation.

Ku Nye – Traditional Tibetan Massage

  • Level 1 (10 days)
  • Level 2 (12 days)
  • Level 3 (14 days)
    • In order to complete Level 3, students will be required to submit a thesis on a Ku Nye related subject of their choice, to be agreed with Dr. Nida.
    • At the completion of Level 3, students will be invited to participate in an international revision course; venue and location to be advised.
  • Ku Nye Teacher Training Course.

In between these set contact-times, homework of a practical nature will be set, such that students can put their new knowledge into practice immediately and consolidate their learning.

Ku Nye students are recommended to join the web-based discussion-group. This discussion group consists of students who are studying Ku Nye with Dr Nida. Any questions pertaining to study topics are to be posted here, to be discussed and answered by experienced students.

Traditional Tibetan Medicine  -  4-year Course

  • Italy            - continuation of current course
  • Germany      - start new course 2007
  • Australia       - start new course 2008

Basic format: 3 years of study in the local area, then one year of study in Tibet.

In between these set contact-times, homework of a practical nature will be set, such that students can put their new knowledge into practice immediately and consolidate their learning.

New students are recommended to join the web-based discussion-group. This discussion group consists of students who are studying TTM with Dr Nida. Any questions pertaining to study topics are to be posted here, to be discussed and answered by experienced students.

Please note that Mantra Healing, Dreams, Ku Nye and TTM courses presented by the IATTM are modular in nature, meaning that each unit is a complete entity in itself, giving both theoretical knowledge and practical skills that can be utilised immediately. However, enrolment in subsequent higher levels is dependent on having completed the previous level course.

Special Courses

These courses are for people who may have a specific interest in lesser known aspects of Tibetan Medicine or Culture, such as:

  • Medical Yoga
  • Ro-Tsa Course – increase in sexual energies
  • Healing and Wellbeing Retreat
  • Longevity and Rejuventation - The Tibetan Detox
  • Yuthok Practice Retreat
  • Tibetan traditional culture, including Meditation, Sa Che (geomancy), Mo (divination), Healing rituals, Astrology, Calligraphy

Clinical Study Courses

These courses are specifically designed for students practising Ku Nye, External Therapies and Traditional Tibetan Medicine. These courses will involve predominantly clinical practice, however some additional lectures will be arranged. It is an opportunity for students to discuss difficult cases, and even to bring patients along.

The venue and duration of these courses will vary according to the number of students and topic of study. The minimum number of students for these clinical study courses is six.

Clinical Study Courses in Tibet

The Clinical Study Courses are specifically designed for senior students practising Ku Nye, External Therapies and Traditional Tibetan Medicine. Students are allowed a unique opportunity to witness TTM being practised in its country of origin, to study with fully qualified Tibetan doctors in a supervised clinical setting, and to gain some valuable practical experience. These courses will involve predominantly clinical practice; although some additional lectures will be arranged.

Courses will take place at the Qinghai Traditional Tibetan Medicine Hospital, Xining. Lectures will be conducted by Dr Nida Chenagtsang as well as clinical and teaching staff at the Qinghai Traditional Tibetan Medicine Hospital. Courses will be scheduled for August each year.
